A product accompanying home growers throughout their gardening journey and connecting them with their local gardening community.

Problem Statement

The vegetables and fruits we eat often come from very far places, and stores in search of convenience package these items in unnecessary plastic. As a society we need to utilize our resources to live more sustainably and part of that is empowering people through community engagement and provide them with resources to learn from local experts, participate in events and share their accomplishments with a local community.

User testing outcome

Insight 1

Home gardeners have a desire to be part of a community garden, even when they have their own land. To have access to local information and resources.

Insight 2

Home gardeners experience a knowledge gap, even after gardening for a few years. They feel that online research only provides them with general concepts.

Insight 3

Community gardens face difficulty building community post pandemic; because people are still afraid to hang out, specially older more knowledgeable folks.

Reflection

During this project, I learned how crucial it is to trust the process to guide the outcome of the product, without skipping any steps.

Next steps

Conduct moderated testing to continue to evolve VegVille.

Build features from the perspective of Chris, the community garden organizer.

Test with a new group of people who haven’t seen the prototype before.
